I'm seriously wondering if I'm the only toyota nut that also likes the awesome band Opeth? Anyone who is a big fan should know they are coming to australia in march - am I going to be the only one who has a decent toyota?

Hopfully i wont have to sell my ticket just so i can live, if not i'll be at the Brisbane show
I think Draven is going to the sydney show and he definately has a decent toyota

Did they get any good venues interstate? Because last time they came to adelaide they got the Adelaide University Bar (which just held all of about 150 people) and this time they managed to score Heaven II (some seedy teeny-bopper nightclub) which may fit 400 or so?

in syd they packed out the metro (nfi on seating there), but it went off - and as a bonus they played amazingly.
This time they've booked out the enmore theater, which while it has less of an atmosphere, it also holds more people and is probably suited to this half acoustic-half heavy gig.
Apparently the crowd in perth threw bottles at them and booed them, so it'd serve them right if opeth decided not to visit their little backwater (no offence to the perthians )

Really, booed and heckled? That's completely fucked because Opeth weren't even going to go to Perth initially and they added it on to their schedule at the last minute because the fans were crying about it!
In adelaide we cheered/chanted Opeth until they came back up on stage! (Of course it was all a ploy, they were going to come back on stage regardless - but hey - I'm sure they felt good about themselves)

I'll be at the sydney show for sure after catching them last year at the metro, awesome, awesome show. Met them too at the instore, cool guys, mate got his guitar signed.
Should be interesting to see how the 'damnation' stuff comes across live.
Apparently the DVD is awesome too, anyone seen it?

I haven't seen the DVD yet...but I think I'm supposed to.
Apparently they won't be playing only damnation stuff, but also face of melinda and etc - But I guess it's mainly damnation.
They've got three melbourne shows? What dates?

I've seen the dvd - very, very impressive.
On the same level as the sydney gig (with a bit better mixing/mastering, of course).
if they play the same as they did at sydney last year, I'll be euphoric - never heard anyone play that well live before

Yeah I finally got my mitts on the DVD, they really are such a good live band. ALthough they coulda laid off of the extreme close-ups of Mikael Akerfeldt. Their drummer is pretty darn awesome, probably gets under-rated though.

My mate is a music journo, got a phone interview the other day with the guitarist ( i think his name's pete?)
Apparently Mikael is only bringing accoustic geetar down to save money haha, but the rest of the band will be electric.
He also said they will be heading back into the studio this year.
one more week...can't wait....

yeh i dont mind Opeth, they have an awesome sound to them, 2 of my mates are hardcore fans, they're going to the sydney show. i saw the dvd when it first came out when my mate bought it, pretty sweet i reckon.

I just hope their drummer doesn't have another anxiety attack (although I would appreciate a totally acoustic set from them, I definitly wanna hear drapery falls and the moor, tho I'm not sure they'll be playing the moor - they haven't said anything about it)

Man, they've come and gone here in Adelaide, but hell (excuse the expression) they kicked ass!!!
They played three songs from damnation, To Rid the Disease, In My Time of Need and I think the first track maybe? They played The Moor, Blackwater Park, Demon of the Fall, Drapery Falls, and get this - To Bid you Farewall - holy **** that was awesome (early Opeth kick arse)! They played a couple of other songs, umm, Master's Apprentices, Deliverance...I can't remember anything else, possibly something I've missed.
Anyway, the crowd was absolutely awesome...we didn't quite pack the venue out, there was probably a few square metres of room left near the back
Martin Lopez (the drummer) was amazing, that guy is just unbelievable. Plus he's got medication for his anxiety attacks these days anyway so no problems there!
Well, I gotta catch up on some study...
P.S. Mikael Ackerfeldt is a wierd, wierd guy.
