well on the weekend (well, friday night actually) the mr2 sports-sedan died.
during an untimed practice day, what can only be described as a complete utter fuckwit rammed it from behind in his rx7 club car at sandown. brenton had just bedded in the new brakes, and was traveling at about 140k along the inside of the track minding his own business when this twit came thundering down the track (in the wet mind you) at somewhat over 200k - hit a water puddle, and run straight into the back of the car, totally destroying the back of the car, spinning it, hitting the other side, then put it into the wall.
back of car is basically not there any more, all the group A parts are damaged, the sump is smashed, the gearbox casing is broken, all the suspension is bent - every panel is damaged bar the bonnet. and the best bit - the guy didn't say anything - picked up his car and pissed off to fix it - so HE COULD GO RACING THAT WEEKEND!!!! tracked the twit down on sunday - he could not give a stuff. he has a now repaired $5-10k club car, we have a $30k pile of bits.
not in the least bit happy!
i'm wondering is there is any way we can take legal action against him? (mostly due to his could not give a shit attitude)
anyone need some race parts? motor etc are now for sale (4age - 140 hp at the wheels)

yes it was open practice - run by the mg car club.
nothing we can do about it - other than find the parts to rebuild the car in a lighter, faster format. what was really annoying is that we had just totally rebuilt the rear suspension using all sorts of trick parts - totally wasted effort now!
so if you go to a practice day with your car watch out for a f##wit running a green series 1 rx7 - idiots name starts with P - penbry? something like that anyway. complete wanker and a fool. anywhere but the racetrack and he would be up to his arms in legal paperwork by now.

NNOOO!!Toby sorry to hear about such a bad end to a sweet looking beast... Has you mate got in contact with CAMS? Did the stewards have anything to say? Obvious he's in the wrong and should fork out the cash or at least give him the shitbox he was driving.

cams runs the vmrc events - they will do nothing the car was destroyed during mixed practice (always a bad thing) and racing is a "no fault"sport - you can have you car destroyed by a wanker, and the very most cams will do is basically slap the offenders wrist. (litrally) bottom line here is that if you can afford to go racing, you should be able to walk away from the car (ie totally write it off)
you don't have to like it, you just have to accept it.
car will be rebuilt - the earliest it will be running will be next season - will be lighter, and hopefully running a 275hp 2.0l motor! - but will not be driven in mixed practice - especially if a certain rx7 is out there

Yeah spoke to a good friend who's head steward for some of the club cars here... same response, only with the addition of a baseball bat and dark night mentioned
