Which engine will i choose? Help needed for decisions... Sun, 29 February 2004 11:11 Go to next message
Atm I'm in the lengthy process of (for my needs etc etc) figuring out which engine 4AGE 20v or a 4AGZE would be best suited.
Power figures are in favour with the supercharged, just slightly with Kw but by quite a bit with Nm.

My question is whether there is anything one could do to increase the torque in the 20valve engine?

Also, with a 10.5:1 compression ratio would the 20v need premium fuel?

Furthermore, I'd like anyone who's done either transplant (20v or 4AGZE from 4AGE in an Ae82 or equivalent) to pm me or email me (jayman@hosts1.com) about the complexities of the swap over. Engine mounts, gear box mating, drive shafts etc! Any help for this would be much appreciated - I wanna do this right and get bang for buck!

Cheers guys, this forum rulez!

My only comment to your questions will be, that it will be easier to find a complete 4AGE 20V, than a 4AGZE at the moment, and cheaper too. I have had an order in for 4AGZE's for over six months now, never had it filled, but have 2 20V motors spare currently. The search engine is also your friend for info like this.

Seriously dude, the search function is made for dummies like you so you can find out information that is sitting around on these forums. It's easy to find and it'll answer all your questions and more.

1. Forced induction.
2. Ideally yes. But if you shaved 2mm off the head, you could do away with the spark plugs and run it on diesel.

Don't laugh - I did seriously looking into doing something vaguely similiar to this once! Evil or Very Mad
