Supra ideas...... Sun, 29 February 2004 12:15 Go to next message
Okay guys, heres the plan....

I'm taking my Supra in to get gone over with a fine-toothed comb. Get everything checked, find out why its slower than it should be.

Scenario a)

whatever is wrong can be fixed for cheap. This means its 5ME/MTEU hybrid time. when ive got the money after playing with the 5m turbo (or blowing it up) ill get the 7mgte.

Scenario b)

Something is seriously (expensively) fucked- rings, bearings, anything that needs headwork. This means, due to costs, the hybrid will be skipped, and all cash will
put towards a 7M-GTE.

But the real question is, as contradictory as it may be:

I'm thinking of whacking an exhaust on in the meantime- the biggest size (the 7M-GTE will happen eventually, so I'm keeping it in mind)

Would this be a decent idea (casting money contradictions aside)?

Would a 2.5" exhaust be okay for a 5me, 5mte, and big enough for a 7m-gte?

cheers guys. Very Happy

EDIT:

Where are some good places/people to get a 7M-GTE swap done? i can provide a step by step guide, (found one on the net)...

anyone here can do them (cash adjustment..)
anywhere good in melbourne? (least cash possible)

You have practically nothing to gain by putting a bigger exhaust on your 5M-E. Don't waste your time and money. And no, a 2.5" exhaust is not big enough for a 7M-GTE; you'd be silly to go anything less than 3".

Don't waste a cent on an exhaust until you are very clear about what it is you want to do.
