Is there any way i can convert my RA40 to ford/commodore stud pattern? I want to run 15" steel "chasers" (widened to 7") on it as im building on a budget but still want a "tough" looking car. Any help would be appreciated. P.S. does anyone know if nissan etc. had a 4stud 15 inch steel rim (early skylines maybee??) Thanx, chris

Chris,
Ford run a 5x114.3 stud pattern. Current Commodore run a 5x120 stud pattern.
Simply talk to an engineering company ans they will drill and fit the new studs for you.
I have changed my RA 28 to Commodore 5 stud. This was done while I was having the Falcon diff converted to fit.

You could put a Hilux diff down the back! It has the same stud patten as the fords.

And run Crown hubs at the front! (114.3 x 5, Ford)

You will need to modify both the Crown or Hilux diff to fit.
Essntially, you will need to take the diff to a diff place and get some one to weld the RA40 suspension points on to it. The Crown diff is 7,5" whilst the Hilux diff is 8" (somewhat stronger). The Crown diff (MS112) is disc brake whilst the Hilux is drum.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the larger the Crown wheel the stronger the diff. The main strength lies within the hemisphere and the number of splines on the axle.

As far as I'm aware, a larger diff pretty much always corresponds with a stronger hemisphere and more splines (I'm talking Toyota diffs here). The 8" G series diff is definitely stronger than the 7.5" F series, and it remains popular with the rotary boys for its relatively compact strength.

It's also harder to break a 1.5" drive shaft(hilux) than a 1" (celica) but I will agree that a hilux diff can be broken if abused constantly...
