GZE Flat Spot Mon, 01 March 2004 06:52 Go to next message
I've just finally got the SC working in my AW11. It's now boosting up to 8-10psi on the gauge fine when I'm on the gas.

Though I have found that on the street, when I'm driving off-boost and I plant it... there is about a 1 1/2 second lag before it is boosting. Is this normal? I thought the boost from the SC was more instant than that. I have never driven any other GZE car so I can't judge what it's sposed to be like.

Before I fixed the SC... it was a bit on/off throttle... like Idle or 1800rpm... nothing in between.

I seem to recall having a similar prob in my NA a few years back... that was related to the TPS. But another guy has told me O2 Sensor could be the problem.

Any suggestions out there on what I should be looking at. What are the usual symptoms for a dud O2 sensor? and could a dodgy setting for my TPS be causing the lag. I have tried to adjust the TPS but the screws are rock solid. Just want to get an idea before I take an impact driver to the TPS screws or something equaly violent.

Oh... another thing when i start it... it is like an old steam train. Kicks and starts but goes slow. chug... chug... chug and takes a while to get up to normal cold idle speed???? Not sure what causes that but none of the 4a's i've had have ever done it.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

i had a similar problem with my old gze...put foot down nothing would happen then all of a sudden woosh away it went. That was due to a bit of my intake piping being too flexible and partially sucking closed and restricting flow from the charger.

dont know if it'll help...but best of luck getting it sorted

Mine does that on occasion.. Even the chug chug start up, although thats prwtty rare. I'm thinking it may be a SC belt problem in my case tho (the flat spot).. My belt is pretty cracked and pretty old.. check the condition of your belt Smile
