Auto chaser overdrive problems

Hey guys...my 1jz-gte cressie has been at an 'auto specialist' since tuesday now, and im starting to get pissed off. Its sluggish to change into 3rd after the conversion (driving manually is about the only way to make it work) and you have to get it up to over 60 whilst on boost and accelerating to get it to pop into 3rd. Overdrive is out of the question, it is a no show (even though the light displays on the dash) Had a guy i work with who knows the people at the workshop talking to me today, says they still have no idea oh and it was flushed with type IV/new filter last month by these guys.
Anyways, i was juts browsing the soarer forums today and noticed a problem with the V8 (not sure how many people with TTs this effects) in that when you fit an apexi/other speed cut controller, the box immediatly will have the same problem as mine does now. It just so happens that my half cut came with a gReddy cut controller....and the leather shifter on the half cut was worn through which either tells me that this car has been driven manually a lot, or has done a hell of a lot more kms than the indicated 80,000...which is doubtful.
Anyone else have speed cut controllers hooked to their auto backed 1jz cressidas?
I DID talk to the techie when i has the box flushed last time about the problem and the convosation when like this.
ME: "i have a greddy speed cut controller in the car, do you think this could be causing the problem"?
HIM: "Nah, its a solenoid problem"
SO if this is the problem and these guys havent figured it out over almost a week...they better not be expecting me to pay for that much labour and not even have a solution...
Oh and btw, its an untouched chaser loom, not modified in any way apart from the SCC because who needs luxuries like cruise and TRC, i mean you want to drive the car yourself, not have a computer do it for you
Thanks for any help in advance guys,
Cheers,
Troy

A couple of guys in Canberra have experienced these shift characteristics with the Soarer and MX83. The problem was solenoid related. If you still have your original Cressida box, swap the Solenoids from it to the Chaser box.
regards Chuck.

Thanks for the info chuck, but ive tried...had all 3 solenoids and the box speed sensor changed over last week to provide no difference whatsoever. It's strange because every so often (say once a week or so) ittl just slip into overdrive at highway speed and then the box will work flawlessly (downshifting correctly to overtake etc) until the next time the car comes to a complete stop.
Can anyone provide me info on where the trans speed sensor gets its power feed from (specific ECU pinout) because apparently the positive wire at the speed sensor is reading incorrectly or not at all. can it be hardwired to a fused 12v?
Cheers,
Troy

is it wiring related
like power to solenoids
did they hook up the over drive
did they hook up the power button if needed
most people think its mechanical but it is usually wiring
over drive will not work if not wired up
gbox will not change gears if the ecu does not get the right signals
why do u say u dont need cruise
its piss easy to get to work
traction control is whole new ball game
why dont u fuk off the greddy thingy and see what it does

I did the conversion myself, i would have got one of you experienced guys to lend me a hand if you werent all up north! lol...i used all the stuff from the chaser, every single thing from the seats forward. The fact that the trans will just randomly work perfectly tells me that its electrical now, i thought it may have been a sticking solenoid before.
All the solenoids have been tested, and now replaced also with the cressida items.
The cut controller was pulled out ages ago, and i wired the wiring back to factory. Im pretty certain its either the ECU (the auto place ended up blaming this) or simply a broken power wire to the speed sensor.

The power/manu and over buttons work too, the lights come up on the dash and on the odd occasion that the box works properly, it noticibly changes the shift pattern so it cant be them. I was thinking that the speed cut controller possibly fried something inside the ECU?
