icon9.gif  Who to turn to for diagnosing engine troubles? Mon, 01 March 2004 22:32 Go to next message
Hi all,

My 1G-GE seems to be making some nasty noises, and just over the past day they have gotten worse. It is a knocking sound that is duller and louder inside the car, but sounds like metal on metal outside the car. By using a screwdriver with the engine running I can tell the sound is from the front of the engine. I find the sound gets louder when I turn the steering wheel full lock, which tells me it is the power steering pump. I'm not convinced though!

Which workshop should I turn to for a free quote on getting it fixed? Or even advice? Or maybe someone here can help me out? Smile

Wont be using the beast to cruise until I get this fixed...

Thanks

Nevermind... Took it to some guy on the other side of town (friend told me about him).

Turns out the crank pulley is wobbling around, could be the pulley itself wobbling or the crank end float Confused Confused
