TVIS on Turbo conversion? Tue, 02 March 2004 07:48 Go to next message
I'm gathering parts for a 4AGTE build.
I got a manifold but the TVIS and stuff is missing.
Question is... when I use this manifold in the build-up, can i bolt it straight up to a big-port head on my ZE without having the TVIS plate in there?

Oh well... looks like it'll go. Guess I'll find out when I get into it.

Have the butterflies been removed from your TVIS or is it just disconnected?

Freak 10sec_rx7, you had no air gaps? when i did mine i could see no way the round inlet manifold ports/runners would seal against the head ports because of the way it dipped in at the top of each of the runner/ports on the linet manifold.

nope no problems at all, the tvis plate was exactly the same shape as the inlet manafold, this was a rwd motor so maybe the fwd are different,

Freak yes one side of the t-vis plate is exactly the same, but what about the inlet manifold side? the 8 round runners/ports. i held both sides of the t-vis plates gaskets together, didnt look right to me.

anyways, i just used the t-vis plate, but guttered the butterlfies and center rod then sealed the 2 holes up.

we had no problems doing it, as the studs are long and go through the tvis plate and into the manafold there should be no problems on even the FWD motors

As for the throttle body, SSS automotive should have a heap of them as we got a bare manafold off them the other week,
