I had a "accident" a few months ago i had a lil scratch on the bumber of the corolla cleaned it up with some cut n polish no worries couldnt see it. the other car has pannel damage. i was reversing into a drive way in a lane and this car comes past me while im reversing and comes in contact with the front corner of my car. idiot. he goes well settel this oourselves no insurance all that. 2 months go past ive forgoten abt this the guy comes to me asking for money n all this. he works down the road from my factory, and i told him i aint paying and all this and eventualy he goes im taking u to court i go yeah go ahed over $610 good luck. then another month goes past nothing then gio rings me tells me a story to call the insurance company that i was with when i had the car since i sold it and had cancelled the policy. so i do that to sort this shit out and the road laws state that when u r reversing that u are responsible for what happens no matter what, some clown can zoom right up ur ass and its still ur fault. how fucked is that. so now i gota pay for the damage that gio asses, fine they can get a dollar a day.

Heh in queensland it is (believe it or not) illegal to reverse out of your driveway you are meant to turn around in you driveway and come out front first . Havn't heard of anyone getting done for it but it is there in the road rule books.

The RTA should so let people know about these laws etc. What I hate the most being a L plater is people and over taking lanes. They think they can get past you cause they think your a "slow" driver. and at the last minute u get cut off. And thats just one thing thats pisses me off.
Anyway all is good I go for my P's next friday.

Then when you get on your 'OH YEA's' you can forget everything and learn how to drive for real.
Geez I'm glad I never had to have plates on my car up here in Queensland.

I was involved in a car accident at the start of the year...
I was in a lane which joins up to other lanes on the freeway, not a merge, they just join up. Anyway, this drunk ass does a 45degree turn like drove straight across the freeway. Decides to slam his brakes when this car in front of me was going to hit it (Would have missed if he didn't hit brakes)...anyway, the car in front goes from 100k's to 0k's instantly upon hitting the car. I'm like behind this car, so there is no way in hell I could stop...also there were poles on the left and cars on the right...so I just went straight into the car.
Turns out the guy that caused the whole thing, was under the influence, and insurance wouldnt cover. The car in front didn't have insurance, and I was the only one with insurance. Anyway, after what is pretty much NOT MY FAULT...I didn't CAUSE the accident, but by stupid road laws, it was my fault hence I caused all 3 cars to be written off. Now WTF is with that???
The cops even did investigation on the cars, like my brakes, distance, speed and stuff...and my brakes, tyres were fine, distance was fine and speed was fine, but still my fault anyway.
Also, Bounty, my friend was reversing to get out of a parking spot on the side of the road. He was reversing because there wasn't enough room at the front. Anyway, this car zooms straight into his car to park behind my friend. So my friend was yelling at him asking why he was stupid etc, when he knew he was reversing. The guy turns around and says it was my friend fault by law and he's gonna make sure he doesn't cop it. So my mates and I fixed that guy up coz they exchanged addresses and stuff, so we knew where he lived etc... My friend hasn't paid a cent, but his car is fixed, I think the other guy is too scared. Was his fault anyway.
This dude on his L's, on a 80k road, decides to pull out from the parking spot after indicating for 1 second. Lucky there were no cars coming from the other side, or I would have went head on. What a dick!

Why doesn't anyone understand one of our most basic road rules?!?!?
If you are too close to the vehicle in front to be able to pull up to a stop behind them, under any circumstance, you are at fault.
If you are driving down the road with some dickhead on your arse and a child wanders out into the road, should you plough it over just so the moron behind doesn't crash his car?
Keeping a large gap between you & the car infront has more benifit than just avoiding a crash (although this would have to outweigh the rest), your visibility around the car infront is greatly increased, which makes it heaps easier to pick the better lane (when you're in the middle of 3) plus you usually have more options to change lanes.
This is not directly aimed at Rattlehead, please domt take offense to what I'm saying. I've just heard too many people go on about how it shouldn't be their fault and I just wish people could understand why.
The rule in NSW is to keep a 3 second gap between you & the car infront (2 seconds in every other state), which leaves plenty of braking space & time at any speed.
Now I know in traffic there is not much chance of keeping a gap that big in front of you without everyone jumping infront, but i's not hard to keep a safe distance.
