Mate it's a prick of a job, that same nut was totally stuffed in my car too! I got really pissed off at it and got a mechanic to do it, all he did was use a pair of vice grips! should have tried that myself. Takes a bit of mucking around to get them in there properly, but it should work for you

Tooch...thanks for that . Did the mechanic just do up the rounded nut with the new filter using the vice grips again (i.e. not replacing the nut or line etc)? Thanks for sharing, glad I asked!

Big problem is that the pipe has a flared end and when the nut is tightened too much it flares the end of the nut.
This then makes the end of the nut too big to unscrew from the filter.
recommend:
1/. Use a Pipe spanner ( it has 6 flats - well 4 and 2 halves) and webbing across the top to stop the spanner opening up.
2/. Try not to overtighten ( can be difficult to seal however).
A lot of the Dealers actually cut off the end and have a new end formed on the pipe and use a new nut.

Umm yeah he just tightened the old one back up again, if you could be stuffed you could cut the old one off and chuck a new one back on and flare the end

Thanks for that tooch and toyoda . Here are some pics of mine..showing the line that looks monged (do you think somebody has tried to grip the pipe or overtightened putting a twist in pipe or does everyones look like this?).
How much of a job do you think it would be to cut off the end and put new one on? Flaring end etc? Thanks

He He - If that was a chicken, that amount of wrung neck would kill it.
Definately replace the pipe or cut off the damaged end, even if you have to extend it.
That amount of distortion can only slow down the fuel flow and could eventually fail.
Good luck

love the chicken analogy. I might try Enzed and see what they have in the way of fittings that might do the trick.
Thanks..bloody mongrel that worked on it before!

ok mate the best advice i can give you coming from a mechanic to save you a bit of money is to..
1. take the old filter ask for Z-200 fuel filter.
2. ask for about 150mm of fuel injection hose 4 hose clamps in case you wreck one.
3. cut the banjo fitting off(where the bolt goes through) and cut off the pipe before the twisted bit of pipe.
4. join it all up. so then next time you go all DIY you can think im saving myself a big headace with the new filter set up and a few dollars as well.
5. away you go

Brad (Mr Plow) I owe you one !
That's a great idea. If I chop the top bango fitting, will that thickness of fuel injection hole fit on the outlet of the z200 filter.. I guess it would if you're telling me to do it. The fuel injection hose has a standard inner diameter does it?, or maybe get the filter and check..but I've got to match the hose to the cutoff pipe diameter. I'll manage I think. Thanks Brad..that will save a lot of HASSLE

Brad,
I swapped the z361 for a z200like you said..it looks the money. I found some fuel line at home (leftovers from what I bought for another car), just need some hose clamps and I'll be in business.
Thanks again
