To drop or not to drop? Tue, 02 March 2004 12:38 Go to next message
Ok as you all probably know the fuel tanks in the TA22's suck dogs balls, so I just want to know what other people have done to make the fuel arrangement a bit better.
I have been set to fit a small drop tank arrangement under the back and fit the filler between the tail lights. But before I go ahead and do this I just wanted to get some other ideas.

So..

[Edit]This could probably be in the Tech section[Edit]

I didn't go for a drop tank - instead I got an internal pump bracket from a VL commodore and an in-tank surge tank (baffles) welded in- cost me $150 (including bracket) and worked pretty well..

Umm... cost and I wasn't keen on the look for my celica..

oh - and my mate that was helping me (a lot) with the project reccomended it, so I did..

oh - and I was trying to avoid having a pump/surge tank (external) in the boot..

Although I think a drop tank can look "tough" if that is the look you are going for..

Yeah I think the drop tanks can look pretty cool if they are not too big. The engineer that has been doing all my welding and stuff has a few kit Cobras with drop tanks and they look real tough Shocked

Yes i think a drop tank is the go. Make sure it is done buy someone that knows about drop tanks Apparently now for it to be legal it has to have the corners dont properly. It is hard to explain so get some info on it. Im also going the drop tank but so it doesnt hang right to ground in order for me to get enough fuel in it im removing the spare wheel well then i can place a sqaure tank in. Then basically make a the outlet in the bottum in some sort of smaller tank so the fuel must flow into that first and then there is no need to try to suck the fuel up. It can just feed out of the bottum.
