Toyota badged Daihatsu?

Ummm, i was working my way through the toyota japan (rather hard when you cant read japanese) and whilst stumbling through the list of toyotas available in japan i came across this.

i thought to myself, ive seen that before, and sure enough here it is

I just thought it was bizarre that in japan of all places they did the same stupid badge swapping as holden do here. maybe they sell more Daihatsu Sirions when people can say "No, i dont own a daihatsu, who wants a daihatsu, thats a toyota"...

a sirion gtvi has the same engine as a 1.3liter echo
just names different

well that explains a bit then. HAHA the only vehicle in the daihatsu line up that does anything even close to performing is powered by toyota. i drive an echo at work, i love when the vvt-i kicks in, although its only 1.3L it goes damn well for it, or maybe its just been too long since ive driven the celica lol!
Id be heaps keen to drive a corolla sportivo and feel how nicely that engine goes.

K3-VE is the engine from the daihatsu
the echno is a toyota code
i know they are different but arent the basically the same thing with just some vvt fiddles?

Nope, they are a totally different engine with differing bore/stroke, capacity etc.

Daihatsu deltas and toyota dynas are the same(well basically) the 100 series both run the 2y and 3y
