does anyone know what a CA18DET, exhaust manifold is made of?
cast iron?, steel?, other metal?

almost all exhaust manifolds are cast iron.. if it looks cast, it is cast iron... it would never be 'cast steel' but might be welded steel tubes...

looking to weld to it?

ca18t come in 180sx silvias

they come in n/a and auto very gutless

the manual turbo ones arent too bad
but better go for the sr20t ones

this one was a ca18det in a late model exa

How come? isnt the sr20 a better engine. Late Exa turbos arent bad know a guy whos gona put a sr20det in his exa

In standard form the SR20 is a better engine, but if you are going to be building a hi-po engine package the CA18 has a much stronger block, larger water gallery's as well as other things that keep a hard working engine in tact.

I also believe the sr20 valves can let go at sustained high rpm, thou ive only heard this.

Majority of the drag silvia;s that ive seen in video's or on the net are all ca18's.
