6m engine help Thu, 04 March 2004 06:13 Go to next message
I have a 84 supra celica, it is currently running the standard 2.8 and five speed. I have a 6MGE (3.0, twin cam, 2 valve, apperantly very rare) that I want to fit. The engine was originally in a auto soarer.
I have the computer from the soarer but cant find a wiring diagram any where! Can any one help?
My other option is to trick the standard 5M computer to run the engine. How hard would this be? (5M has no oxy sensor, 6M does), would the injector drivers be similar enough? where might I run into problems?

Go to http://www.celicasupra.com for all the info on 6M-GE's. They're not rare at all, in fact they're a very popular upgrade in Mk2 Supra's. I used to have one in mine.

The site above should have wiring diagrams/pinouts etc for the 5M-GE ECU, which as far as I'm aware is identical to the 6M-GE ECU. You can also use your existing 5M-E ECU which is what I did. It's not as good (like you said, no O2 sensor) but it still works fine. The injectors are the same so there's no problems there, but you will have to modify the 5M-E loom a little to work with the 6M-GE sensors. The details of this escape me though, it was at least 6 years ago when I did it! It's certainly not difficult if you're handy with a soldering iron and know how to read a wiring diagram.
