Starlet Timing belt removal Question

Asking on behalf of a friend who is looking to do the timing belt on his Toyota Starlet ( Aus delivered, non turbo etc)
He is asking is there any special 'knack' to removing the crank pulley as there does not appear to be any room to get the crank pulley off while it's fitted in the car....
any suggestions would be much appreciated...
