Hey all, a friend told me today that some compnay is selling off a 3sge for 500 bucks, and said it was a 2 ltr "performance version" (non turbo) of my car. I assume he's talking about a 3sge. He said it had been worked a little and was 145kw at the engine. I am wondering is this a stock sorta power output, or would it have been done up a bit to do that? Would it be a straightforward installation and how long should it take and what should i expect to pay a mechanic? How much of a difference will it make when i am driving and put my foot down? Is there any sites with good specs on it, i remember it redlining at 7,000rpm, when is the best spot to change? Will my fuel consumption change much?
Sorry for all the questions but i wanna know because it's a lot of money to me but i can afford it. My current engine/car has 275,000km on it and is going really good but it's a shit load of k's for sure, the new one is apparently "new coz it got rebuilt" or something. Anything else i should ask or watch out for?

i'm not too sure of the going price but 500 for a 3sge sounds very very wrong to me... plus you've gotta factor in the cost of installation and a lot of other things so before you start worrying about when to change gears with the new motor think about all the other stuff.

Yeah, i'm also asking how much you think it would cost to install before i start ringing around? Could the swap be completed in a day? Is there any other parts i would need, as far as i can think, engine mounts are the same and it will fit straight into my 5spd gearbox, i've got a pod filter and short ram so i don't have to worry about the airbox, do you think the wiring would be the same? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks alot for the quick reply

Hey guys, I just phoned the company up and it's a customer that is selling it. I called him and he gave me the following specs
17,000 km since new, fully imported engine
includes partial exhaust, loom, ecu, 145kw.
He said the engine is a 3SA10 which doesn't sound right and it is from around 96-98.
I'm going to go check it out. How can i tell what engine it is, and what year if possible? I think it's actually a 3sge
