Hey
I need a new thermo switch, my thermo fan is on all the time...
i went to bursons, repco etc etc, they have nothing on rwd ae86s 4age's in there book,
so i need a part number for the thermo switch, as i've got rwd water pipes, so a normal thermostat for a ae92 etc won't work, i've already checked
any help ...

if your thermo fan stays on all the time, it's because it's been wired to.
AE86's never came with thermo fans, so they dont have a thermo switch. simple as that.
if you want one, so your fan switches off, take it to your local radiator shop, and get them to fit one. if they have half an idea, they should even be able to wire it up properly too..

Sounds about right.
Or an auto electrician should be able to help.

well
theres a switch in the wiring diagram saying thermotime switch,
if i'm not mistaken the ae92's came with thermo fans, and plug part just behind the bottom waterpipe to the radiator... above the alternator, this is the part that is broken, thats the part i need
I'm not sure if you can get them from a auto shop, or its gotta be toyota, or a toyota wrecker

Im pretty sure the thermotime sensor plug just tells the computer how hot the water is to help with the cold start injector, and is usually located at the back of the head.
So what type of 4ag do you have. If its a fwd motor buy the part to suit the motor not the car its in.

It's funny how much you can learn by reading ( A MANUAL) and trying to sort out problems your-self, when a mechanic lets you down.
Although somewhere in my (very) distant memory, didnt some series of 4ag get the water temp from the thermotime sensor, and the computer turns the fan on and off.
I may be thinking of a different car but im pretty sure some Toyota's have it as well.

As far as i'm aware RWD 4AGE ECU have no control for thermo fans.
The FWD AE82 ones have a switch in the remote thermostat housing. These work in the way that if the switch breaks the fan will stay on all the time.

ahhh thanks for the explanation
thanks for that... I'll fix that up as soon as i can...
the engine is a 100kw 4age, so out of a ae92, but not 100% sure which water manifolds its got on it, as i'm not really that knowlegable of 4age's, as you have noticed...
thanks for that..
