another supra question

okay, ive just realised i should have posted this some time ago-
when shifting down in my ma61, basically slowing down using the gears, (eg. shifting down from 4th at about 35-50km/h) the car shudders and shakes like a jerk. it also does it when taking off, you can solve it by getting the revs out a bit more-
its not like its going to stall however, it just shudders and shakes like a rattle me bones.
is this normal for a bog stock ma61? do they like to shake it like a polaroid picture?
if not, could this be the reason my car gets beaten in a drag by holden astras?
thanks y'all.

i'd say you get beaten by holden astras because you're crap
seriously though
i've driven a few manual MA61's and have never experienced a shuddering of any kind
all smooth smooth gear changes
as to your problem, no idea
perhaps your clutch isnt disengaging enough?

Get someone who knows a bit more about clutches etc. to drive the car first, and if the clutch/flywheel is unhappy, then the box gets pulled out to fix the problem

Or be like me and drive an Auto so Astras always see the "Celica-SUPRA" on the tailgate (when I decide to put the car back on the road )
Cheers.

i have no idea if it's the diff- i think my diff is fine though, leaves 2 black lines thick as ever, and my car has only done about 122000 kms, so it should be okay
but ill get a mr. clutch to take a look at it too.
a manual supra is quicker than an auto, isnt it?
stupid astra.
may have been a camira, actually

I had broken propeller shaft center support bearing. To be exact, the rubber thing around the bearing had fallen to pieces. And I had symptoms you described. Might be worth checking.

Yes, drivetrain shuddering is more often then not a problem with the driveshaft. Check the uni's and the centre bearing.

Jeez if it was a camira, even worse, try also checking your universial joints, and make sure your centre bearing is not worn slightly. This is hard to tell when u are in the car i had to rip mine out to check that, spun it round and the thing was all over the place.
