Just noticed, that gen 2 doesn't have the big AFM like the others i've seen - does it have a MAP sensor?

IT STARTED, lol

hooked up a fuel tank and a battery to to the fuel pump into the lines, threw on an exhaust system, it took a couple of tries but she kicked over almost straight away, did the compression test afterwards and got 200PSI on all 4 Very Happy

Stuc and Karl, the Beams setup is enticing isn't it Smiley = It's hard to justify $2-$3k to repair my gen 1, or swap one back in, even with SuperRob's help Wink

I guess what I'm struggling with that is up till now I haven't put any serious dollars into the car - assuming I can sell the suspension Wink. Adding a beautiful Beams engine in assumes I'm going to bring the rest of the car up to standard - looking at the list of things 'to do', it's got a $11,000 price tag. Putting that into perspective (my current income and situation), it's just not going to happen.

Right now, I think I'll get the car towed home and put it in the garage. Wait until I can find a wrecked ST162 or other cheap 3SGE donor, and then fix the car up and sell it.

Why not take it home and start a project / track car?

Because the company car on the cards is a 2ZZ-GE Corolla Sportivo Smiley = No point building up two hi-powered NA, FWDs!

karl, thanks for your help with the parts, it's 50% still going a bit crazy, but not as bad heh.. craziness

hey guys I installed (thanks karl) some stock toyota switches for my aerial and my amplifier.

So the switches near the steering column are amp and aerial, and the one near the shifter is for the driving lights. Looks so sweet, way factory.

Found out my aerial was broken too so had to plastic weld the nylon cord but it's all sweet now!

oh yeah forgot, yeah it was the big end bearings, they were scoring against the crank, should of seen when we changed the oil, the next day it was black in about 30km's driving which i have no idea what was going on, apparently the big ends caused it, so changed the big ends and oil and what not and seems alot quieter, and after the drive to QLD the oil was still clean so must of been the prob Very Happy.

hey fellas got a question

I am planning on getting my exhaust system completed.

The price is >$600 for the system from the bottom of my headers to the cat-back, inc. new cat, flexi etc etc So it will be a totally sweet system.

What sort of performance gain do you reckon I will get? Is it really worth the money? seems like a lot.. and for what?

Well i think it does jack all, just alot cleaner and more free flowing when i got mine, 600 for the power increase isn't worth it, but if you to keep the enviro clean Very Happy

yeah probably not worth it if you wanted power, i say change it if your cat has had it then worth changing, probably the 600 could go to better use.

Now my engine is blown, I'm dropping the price on my coilovers. Now asking $1,350, plus postage.

Both sway bars are whiteline ones, they make them to the size you order if you ask (22mm is the biggest they make for the rear not sure on the biggest on the front I was told they make them as big as you want)

Rear sway bar will eliminate front wheel lift when accelerating out of a corner, should be stiffer then the front sway bar.
Front does the opposite keeps the car flat under braking.

As for springs, with the standard crappy sway bars (well not too crappy), there won't be that much of an improvement. When I had my shocks/springs replaced with kings and monroe gt's I was disappointed apart from the firmer ride there was little improvement Crying or Very Sad

But it's all good now

I have Monroe shocks and King Springs, Whiteline front and rear sway-bars, front and rear strut towers and lets say...after some 8,500km's of driving, there are still nipples on my tyre walls. they are 215/40zr17's
