Hi All,
I've got a reasonably loud intermitted whirlling sound from my gearbox (i think), it goes away when the clutch pedal is pushed in. Is this my thrust bearing, and how would i go replacing it?
BTW Its a 5 speed T50, 2TG, TA22, and i've got a spare box.

Hard to say without hearing the noise, but it could be your spigot bearing (if the motor has one, a bearing in the front of the gearbox.
Take it too someone who knows what there doin.
Perhaps someone on here might've had similar trouble before.

Yep, thrust bearing. You'll need to remove the gearbox to get at it, and have the old one pressed off and new one pressed on. I think I have a spare new thrust bearing to suit a T50 if you need one, or simply buy one new from a bearing supply shop?!
