keeping rust at bay while my car in stored

As some of you may know, ive bought my second soarer to do the conversion on. got it home today, had more rust than i suspected but mostly surface and the major rust is just in the boot but all easy to fix
wondering what i should do to keep it at bay for the next couple of months
Has surface in sunroof, fuel cap place, under rear quarter window.. and boot seal..
some of the major rust i mightnt be able to do unless i just angle grind it and cover it?
so I was wondering what i could do
get rid of all the visible rust by angle grinder(with wire bush blade) or sand paper depending on the area... then rust kill and then just primer?.. or what about that fisholene stuff?
thanks

I to am interested in this. Ive tried rust converter and kill rust but neither work. Best way i know of so far is if the rust is gonna be fixed anyway just cut it completly out before u store it and just pirimer it. Then weld up the wholes when ya get back to it in a few months.

if you just want to stop it from rusting more whilst in storage (before you want to fix it properly later on)::
LANOGAURD
if you want to fix it properly first go::
POR-15

lanoguard - lanolin based surface protectant. leaves a hellishly sticky (yay for lanolin!) oil film on whatever you spray it on. pretects anything from rusting for a hellova long time. washes off easily with a bit of soapy water.
is used by most machinists to protect their work after machining and before installation.
available from most motor stores, including supercheap - about $10 a can (aerosol). white/red/balck can
cheers

Probably not, the key ingredients for rust formation are air and water. By sealing off surface rust you will probably stop the process, it is all a matter of exactly how long it will be.

nah, thats some other kind of sticky oil film, but the lanolin spray is very similar
re: how to use... dont bother sanding, brushing, rust killing anything, just spray straight on, nice and thick so it looks foamy and yellow, and walk away
when it comes time to fdo it properly, forget kill rust and all that rubbish... POR-15

Actually, not quite true. Before you use the POR15 clean the surfaces with Marine Clean and use Metal Ready, this will convert rust to something else (iron phosphate?).

suggestion?
everything ed_ma61 suggests (the POR stuff sounds much better than fisholene & rustbuster) plus buy enuf cheap tarps to seal up the carport (e.g. top to bottom walls, using bungee cords to keep stuff tight at the roof, and sand bags around the base.
if you get the sizes right, each tarp should end at a post so you wrap one over the other to get a good seal. if it only vents from around the roof it should stay dry and if you get a big flood, open narrow ends until dry.

will repel water VERY well for a decent period of time. just check it every now and then and reapply if you think its looking a litle thin
and nathan - i though metal ready was just an etcher?
either way - use the POR-15 line in a sequence, DONT just buy a tin of rust converter and spray primer

It always has been. But some rust converters react with POR15, so just follow their steups. I used to think it wasn't necessary, but I'm seeing that everything they see seems to be right
