Seating question for TA22

I'm 6'4" and I drive a TA22 - Stupid.
But seriously, I'm desperate to know if anyone has managed to replace the OEM seats with something that either sits the same height as OEM or even lower ?
Reason I ask is because I'm hunching too much as it is, and the seats are on their last days - so something with more lumbar support and the possibility to recline would be great.
Cheers, Jacob

jacob, as you know i put the ae101 levin seats into my ta22. i'm 6 foot and yeah, my head ain't too far from the roof now.
my 2c - get your originals re-upholstered and bolstered in the sides - less fucking around and prolly cheaper.

Yeah i be with Grega on this one, i got a 23 and had later model gt4 buckets put in it, im 6'2 and my head is close to the roof and the leg room aint to crash hot, now i kinda wish i had it back to stock. These seats are way more comfortable though, price you pay. So a serious consideration would be retriming and rebolstering the stocker seats.

Nissan Silvia seats aren't too bad, they end up the exact same height as the stock seats or there abouts.

They don't offer as much support as some of the newer seats but still find them better than the stock items.

What model Silvia are they from Joel? S13/14 ?
Are you able to still slide the seat forwards and backwards?
Any idea whats involved in modifying the seat rails?

They are S13, i've heard S14 are better and are a bolt in upgrade for an S13 - so assuming they are as low I might now be able to put S14 in quite easily.
They are on the original Celica rails so still slide forward/backwards. I mounted them slightly more back so I have more leg room for the people in the front and less for the suckers in the back
It was quite easy, took about 1/2 a day. Unbolted the S13 rails (had to cut a few bits as well) then bolted on some 90 degree angle to the sides of the S13 seats and bolted the Celica rails to the underside.
They probably could even go a little lower.
Cheers
Joel

Do you have any pics of the paint job?

The S13 seats also come in a one-piece back model which is in my opinion quite attractive and suits the visual style of the car.

Have a search through the old posts coz this has been done before... somewhere there is a pic of my car which has some kinda prelude seats. They are comfy but i'm starting to hate them for the fact that they sit waaaayyyy to high. Im contemplating getting some kinda lightweight reclinable SAAS seats instead.

Yeah S13 seats might have got a bagging in the magazine, but if they had of rated stock 1970's Celica seats I think they might have bagged them even more!
They are very firm which doesn't bother me at all, i'd prefer a bit more lower back support though.
