Hey guys, if you dont already realise, CDMA phone rates are DAMM cheap compared to Voda, Optus, Telstra GSM rates..
Have you guys got any experience with the CDMA network - part from the fact you cant use it overseas...

No experience with it but CDMA is meant to be the way to go. It offers more efficient use of the frequency spectrum so basically they can fit more callers within a limited frequency thereby saving money. Meant to have better call quality/security. Also CDMA can control the power output of your mobile so it operates at an optimum level and increases your talk time out of the battery.
Though GSM is the older technology it is more established, more users and you have global roaming.
Personally mobile phones p!$$ me off and they also cause cancer tho no worse than smoking.

Probably the way to go is to check out the plans and services offered and pick the phone that way. The technological differences will mainly be transparent to you.

CDMA is supposed to have better coverage and stuff. A friend from my work used to use it. Also, it doesn't interfere with things as much.
I work for Telstra doing directory assistance in a call centre and his phone he could keep on because it doesn't interfere with anything.

Well CDMA is technically the better technology but that doesn't necessarily mean it will become the accepted standard. eg. VHS became the standard over beta for video systems even though it was poorer. There are a lot of plans to improve GSM to get it ready for 3G mobiles.
Anyways I won't crap on about the real boring technical stuff. CDMA is currently the better technology but in the end its the services you are paying for so decide that way. Eg. price and free time stuff.

I've got an orange fone..And it works great except sometimes the call will drop..
However I have found I get better coverage, like when other ppl with their optus fone's don't have reception up the mountains, i do.
Plus it's hell of a lot clearer..
The previous orange fone i had eliminated background noise i think, so i could even talk to ppl when i was in a club or when they were in a club!
Also I have found I seem to still be in the local call range even tho i am like around 5 km's away from home [i think i am just lucky]
The downfall's are, no yes time...that's all i can say...this is for orange tho..could be a lot different with other cdma services

So you have the free talk plan...
Im thinking of getting the just talk plan - i.e. for mobiles.. without the home calls...
no yes time, that is a downer..

Have you looked at the Vodafone business plans? If you make lots of calls and most of the people you know are on Vodafone, then it's an awesome plan.
I was on a My Choice 55, but I've moved to the Business Choice 40 which has saved me lots of money. Even if you don't have an ABN, I calculated that it was cheaper to get an ABN and move to the 40 plan than to stay on the 55 plan!
Check it out. The calls rates are pretty awesome... All my close friends (except one) are on Vodafone, so this plan kicks arse for me! http://production.vodaecom.atwww.com/pdf/BusinessC hoiceVF.pdf
