Just an interesting observation

I am a school teacher and my classroom is on the main highway between Adelaide (470k's away) and Sydney (900ish k's away) and all the new Holden Commodores go past on the back of Toll trucks. Well there are literally hundreds of trucks going past and all have Commodores and most of the trucks come back empty. Some of the trucks have some 2nd hand looking random cars i'd say in transit between towns. BUT what I have noticed is that about every 2nd truck has at least one brand new Commodore on it. Would these be going back to the factory for some reason? There really shouldn't be any Commodores going that way past my school.
The only thing I can think of at the moment is are they just not up to scratch cars and are going back to get fixed etc?
Just wondering....

No i said they are going back to Holden HQ. And yeah they are all new. No numberplates and I have seen a couple of WK or what ever the new Statesmans are with the square back and they couldn't be too old. The Executive Commos have no wheel trims either.
Just wondering.

I just know a mate that has a brand new VY SS Ute and he got it in that purple colour and a few weeks after he had it a cat scratched his bonnet so he got out cut and polish and it went a queer colour so he took it back to Holden and turns out the car was that green colour once and then something happened to it in the factory and they resprayed the entire car (must have pulled it appart or was never together in the factory in the 1st place) and painted over the green with purple!! He was really shitty and they wouldn't refund the car and said they will just paint it purple again!
Wonder if some of these cars are horror stories like that?

My Mother bought a Holden Commodore VR and they had replaced the engine with a gerbil in a wheel. True story. Still not so bad, it produces about the same power as a V6 Ecotec with much better response and runs on leftovers. Doesn't make much sound either.
... Okay so it's not a true story.

Ahhhrrrg... Remind me not to cut and polish my car. mind you I wouldn't mind a respray the factory spray on the ute leaves a little to be desired. paint runs in the tailgate thin paint in other places.

Hate to break it to you, but that would NEVER happen. They do not paint bodies in two different colours, for a whole host of reasons.
I don't car what your mate said he was told, but it is not true.
Take it from me, I work here as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The paint job is average, but they don't do that shit.
As to cars coming back, many of them may be stock orders that are distributed from a central place in Melb, and if a customer wants a particular car spec, it may have to com back from over the border. The main distribution point to the dealers is from the Syd/Melb area as that is where most of them are sold (as well as the imports coming in).
The cars coming back would not be for rectifications at the factory.
Hope that clears up some things
Cheers

Settle pettle.
What about the dust storm that wrecked a bunch of the cars in the holding yards, so they coped dodgey resprays

No problem, I just hate when people get told/repeat absolute crap.
If cars were damaged as part of a dust storm, they would be repaired in their original colour. No ifs or buts.
If someone got a car that was green and resprayed purple, then it is either a fabrication or a stolen car rebirthed. The amount of effort and hassle far outweighs the cost to do it at the factory.
Quite simple and common sense really.
