i have wondered about this myself when i have thought about possible rack and pinion steering conversions....
The only thing you could do is have a look at maybe a 22R-E sump, or another R series sump from a corona with racoon peanut steering (i think 22r-e is the only one) and compare.

Any sump of a 18r engine will fit a 18r-g but u need the matching oil pickup to suit. I have one hear if your interested $20 plus postage whcih includes the oil pickup.

Yeh! I believe all 18r sumps are the same, but you'll also find the 18rg's will have an oil baffle to stop the oil surging.

18r sumps = 18rc sumps = 18rg sumps...they will all fit as the blocks are the same..as mentioned before...depends on what car the engine was in as to which sump and pick up you want.

78-79 coronas that have 18rc engines have foward sumps. The pickup fits on also.

All sumps for a motor type (at least R's and M's) are interchangeable (the bolt pattern is the same) just change the p/up as required.

rumpy bumpy
dudes,
i want to throw this motor into the celica on the weekend, only thing that is stopping me is a forward sump with a matching pickup and a set of engine bracket mounts
i can fab up my own mounts and sump here no worries but i really need the forward sump oil pickup as in the 18rg i have the pickup is in the middle and somehow i need it to be at the front without hitting the sump
