toymods lan / gaming day

hey
just wondering if there are any gamers or lan junkies out there
what sort of games do you play and like?
just trying to see what sort of interest there would be if i organised a toymods lan day
would probably occur at an internet cafe so that the technically challenged could play and so it would encourage a few newbies
would be a cheap day...
lots of Counter Strike
probably some Warcraft, Command & Conquer - Generals, Battlefield Vietnam
who would be interested and what would you play?

Obviously never any good at the Strategic element
|
Pretty much!
Plus - They tend to bore me senseless just a little bit. I just want to play something where I can load up the game and starting shooting stuff/people..
Computer games are my time away from thinking about stuff.

I'm up for a LAN day! I often run them at my parents place (good table setups, pool table and fridge!). And every month I go to MPU at paramatta.
Warcraft3 is old (and crap), get over it They built a game that was supposed to get away from the "grunt rush" but they havn't, its still build a bigger army than the other guy quicker than the other guy then send 'em in. Strategy in those games are MINOR.
If you want strategy go a decent FPS that you need to co-ordinate PEOPLE not characters. Then once you've got a team when you know how each other works THATS strategy.
Call Of Duty is where its at at the moment. CS is good if you don't know the other people playing, but if you actually want to PLAY a game then do CoD. If your really getting stuck into it you need one of the Rainbow 6 games. Raven Shield is damn good.
</end rant>

You obviously don't play with good players.
If you're ever in Canberra on a Wednesday, gimme a call...
Wednesday is our "Warcraft Night".

ok... looks like theres some interest
will probably need at least 10-20 people from sydney area
hopefully will cost around $15 for all day
it will be at an internet cafe in castle hill... so you won't need any equipment unless your fussy and want your own headphones
they have a variety of games so you can pick what you want to play
would plan to run CS or 1942 constantly as they are great games for large groups but you would be free to play what you wanted
would be open to non-members as well so you could bring your friends
with enough interest i would plan to run this in the next few months on a saturday or sunday

Yeah true, I don't play against good players.
When am I gonna be in Canberra on a Wednesday?? Long way to go on a work night ... plus I play bball on wednesdays. I'll see though
Should get some people coming to MPU! its good fun, and close to the central "hub" of toymods.
Castle hill for me is a bit of a hike.

Haven't played counter strike but I think Raven Shield is awesome. Would love to give it a try in multiplayer!

Its great when theres about 6-8 people playing. You have different personalities. Usually we have something like:
2 snipers
3 sub machine gunners
3 heavy machine gunners/large rifles
then some people take in a heart beat sensor (shows up on everyones minimap!) one person takes lots of frag grenades, one person flash bangs. Then get into position then one of the snipers says "Going Loud" and BANG, then the hoards come out against you.
Played a map like that for about 5 hours straight. no one moved except to reach for more coke from the fridge.

Should have posted this in the sydney section.
Damn you mexicans. I wanna play too.
Hey nark, WC3 is for pre-pubescents. But so is the sims, so go figure.
Y'all need to gather around a computer and play scorched earth. Drop funky bombs on each other while singing funky town.

I remember many nights with a bunch of people huddled around a single computer playing Scorched Earth and Worms.
Got Worms 3D now... Just have to install it... But I'm a bit scared to do it... Don't want to lose too much sleep... hehe

Yeha i would be up for it, shame it wont be a byo system, caus i just got a new system that owns.
As long as we get some UT2004 action and also Call Of Duty.
But i like Stratergy so Warcraft III and C&C generals would be good too.

Yeah? I'll be there this weekend. We usually sit near the girls toilets (no pedestrian traffic there!). It'll be me and my basketball mates, so look for the tallest guys there and its us
I usually play under ShaiTan. What nick do you use?
