ahh dear.. i can see myself getting into a lot of trouble with these, but here goes anyway..
I have brand-new Solar-powered radar detectors from Japan for sale. They pick up speed cameras, radars, permanent camera setups and red light cameras.
These ones sell for around $1200 retail in japan (Y88,880 to be exact.)
Here is some of the interesting english from the package:
CellStar Solar Alpha N71XX - Cope with N-System, Stealth and H-System, Super Sensitivity XX-Bands, Solar Powered Radar Detector, Adopted with folding solar panel and the moving speed canceller.
$380 each btw... these aren't stolen and did not fall off the back of a truck or anything like that - they are purchased wholesale in Japan. Anyone?
Also.. I can get any Option VHS videos from Japan too, all episodes $60 (+ GST) each. (NTSC format)
Thanks, Sam tb303_ae86@hotmail.com ph 08 8443 6400

Dude, Do you have these 'in stock'? Do they work on lasers as well? Do they have battery backup? Very interested..... Cheers

yer man we have several of them in stock..
They charge themselves with the solar panel.. if not they run off your normal 12V cig. lighter with the included cord.
I am pretty sure they work on lasers too, as they have a small detector on the back, but i could be wrong.
If you are in SA, contact me and you can come have a better look at them if u like.

What does that mean exactly? Does it somehow jam the signal.

hi again gary,
The moving speed canceller is a system for hard-suspension cars that have a lot of sharp movement - apparently the movement of the car can interfere with the unit's detection of signals.
There is three-levels for different suspension 'hardness' that compensates for movement.
hope that makes sense.
cheers, Sam

Are these detectors immune to or 'stealthed' in any way from the radar detector-detectors that the Police use? The fine in NSW is way more than a thousand bucks now if one is sprung with a detector.
It is also illegal to offer a detector for sale in NSW as well. Also...how do they detect red light camera's ? cheers struan.

Another couple of points to note is that Australia no longer uses 'X' band radar. This band has been out of use since the late 80's early 90's. We only use 'K' (~24ghz) and 'Ka' (~34ghz)bands.
Laser is laser and uses light instead of microwaves. Fixed speed camera's...certainly those in NSW use piezo strips under the road and simply can not be detected by a radar detector.
And i'd be very interested to find out how these detectors pick up red light camera's. As they do not use any form of emitted signal be it laser or microwave which can be detected. cheers struan.

Struan, do you know if you can see the piezo strips on the road or are they actually hidden under the bitumen?

We should all go for a bag and tag night some time in Sydney where we just drive around and spray paint the pretty radar detectors and fixed speed cameras we know about.......
