I got a quote from a mate for the following: - All dents removed - All rust removed (Cut out and a metal piece welded in) - Two coats clear - Bake - Ferrari Red - More coats of clear All for $2500...
Not bad I reckon... But thats from a mate of mine... It will be a bit more expensive from a panel beater...

Hey Thug Why dont you do what i did and do some of the work yourself to save cash? Labour is the expensive part.If you can Strip the car, grind out all the rust, feather out the paint on all the dents yourself. Then once its primed rubbing back guidecoat isnt too hard once you get the hang of it.Any thing you can do yourself, do it and you'll save your self a small fortune. I did all of the above and got my ta22 done for $1200!(at mates-rates)top class job too. Good luck with it

do what i did my garage tells a story seeing all the paint outlines on the floor, plus its fun spraying a car at home as you open the garage door and see a red cloud floating down the street
although i plan to never paint a car again, to much prep work!

I'm agree with EVOSTi. I would love that colour combo that you were talking about ... but if ur getting a nice glossy black you are going to have to have no dents whats so ever or they will show up big time.

Those people wanting two tone, the two tone does not follow body crease lines. It sits further down the wheel arch, but does follow lines on bumper. I'm taking photo's of #2 before it is scrapped to ensure when I go silver/black in the future, it will be factory correct.
Next time you see a genuine two tone, it's not as simple as it seems. And the little curve up near the tail lights.
I choose white for #3, that's how it left the factory: just going a brighter white: '86 MR2/CELICA super white 2
Interesting fact there are: ~12 Super White from Toyota ~6 Super White 2. So walking into a paint shop and asking for super white (II) will get you no where. Oh, and AE86 White paint no 038 ain't very white.

Hi Jaz, yeah I guess I have the advantage of having the original silver/black two-tone to begin with, like you said it doesnt follow the creases so I can see it being a bit tricky. I thought of making up templates, or just taking pics as you suggest. I wonder how they did it out of the factory?

Sam, I also had silver/black from factory. I guessed they used template in factory as doing 100,000+ cars would need such measures. For you and I, the best bet would be to speak to a painter and see what they say. I guess they'd like a car to take the measurements off AND your car to paint. Bugger as not many two-tone floating around.
As to making template, would be nice but blody hard and then you have to tape it down: same as taping in the first place.
