its becoming very handy for us all to be equipped with handheld UHF's... so im putting up the offer for people to buy the jaycar models at a reduced price through myself.
ive offered this before, and got a little interest, so im going to offer another round to anyone who is interested.

I'll be coming along to this months meeting (19th aug) to join the club and flog a few of these things off, so anyone who is interested can you please post here how many you want and your name so i can order them. Else email me at twitzl@hotmail.com

Price is $50 per unit
$10 for VOX (handsfee) headset

these things are pretty good. if you want info check out www.jaycar.com.au and look up DC1010 (cat. no.)

NOTE!!!!! this is *special* toymods only deal... meaning this deal doesnt really exist OK!! Evil or Very Mad

also any other questions just post here ok.

i think your only option is to mount a mini aerial in the boot or something but thats going to really affect your signal and so forth, if it was that simple then you wouldn't see the aeirals on undercover cop cars

Well one way is to speed and drive like a DH past them and if u see a flashing light in ur mirrors you know its a cop.

yep, they are as good as a uniden, but easier to use from what i've heard.
there is no squelch adjustment (auto ajusting) and they have up to 5km range, so they are pretty decent. Check out the jaycar webpage for info.

I'm in the same boat as Oz_Craig, I'd like one (and vox kit), but can't make it to the meeting either. Any chance someone from the Gong is going to the meeting, and we could meet up at South one night beforehand to place a bulk order?

well manipulate with all cop cars i've seen they have 3 aerials on the back window like mobile phone aerials, one for the mobile phone, one for the uhf cb and the 3rd is for the computer link up, where the undercover WRX's which patrol the old highway only have one to be extra sneaky they have mounted it in front of the spoiler mount so you can't see it from behind, they only use the one as they only need the radio and the cars are simply used for patroling as they don't need addresses and so forth displayed on the computer screen.

as for what cool one said well i'm not sure if he is correct or not but all i can say is i've seen brand spanking new VX commadores still with the 3 mobile phone aerials on the back window.

(also i don't know what the officers would say about having a UHF cb aerial mounted just above there head pumping out just over 5W of power. personally i wouldn't want to be driving around with it that close to my head.)

The way i tell a copper is:
- They have no number plate surround,
- They're plates are always black on yellow,
- They have three aerials placed evenly on the top of the rear
window,
- No stickers on the car at all,
- Chaser rims except for Commo SS's,
and that's all I can think of at the moment...
- Also, if their not hippocrits, and their window tinting is at
a legal level, you can just make out a black box at the rear
window if there is enough light coming through the car...
They are the lights...
- On VT commodores, you used to be able to see blue globes in
place of the reverse lights... used when the sirens went on...

OK here it is: My company does the 2-way install in the cop cars!

The radios they use are 25watt output not 5!
In the last 3 VX dunnydores I fitted out myself, I fitted 1 UHF SPECIAL DESIGNED antenna under the REAR sunviser!
I fitted 1 foil strip CDMA antenna for mobile phone on the front windscreen. I fitted 1 foil strip GSM antenna for mobile phone on front windscreen. I fitted 1 CDMA comms foil strip on rear window.
Strobes were fitted in front headlight surrounds! Strobes were fitted in rear reverse lights(non coloured).
All 3 cars had different aftermarket mag wheels, were lowered, tinted windows, dealership sticker on rear window and slimline rear sun viser!!

How can you tell this is a cop car??? The answer is you cant!

Oh, The radios they use are not CB's!!
And on one of the cars I fitted out it had a personalised number plate!
One thing you maybe able to spot is a CCD camera on the rear piller!
There are three cameras fitted in the cars! One at the back, one pointed at the speedo and one facing out the front window!

These cars have no radar! The idea is the cop will be doing the speed limit with a camera making sure, the camera at the back watching you come screaming up past the cop car and the camera at the front watching you try and escape!

Thats right, they no longer have to show the speed you were doing!

Hmmm....i spose the easiest way of telling is to look for yellow plates

newish falcons and commodores hace no reason to have yellow plates otherwise.....so my license is in the hands of rolla boy's yellow plate theory

25W!!! even more of a reason why you wouldn't want to mount them over your head, i'm sure there must be some health issues or something having them mounted like that when the cars are to be expected to be driven around all day long, either this is a new thing the cops are moveing towards or it just a test like they often do to see how it goes who knows, i'll have a look as i drive past the cop shop tomorrow and see if there are any of these cop cars without an aerial on the back window

Mate, i'm not too sure how you drive your car, but if you have your head up near the back window your asking for trouble! 25 watts of RF is going to be the last of your worries!

They are not just testing this concept either. There are a lot more orders for these cars with the radios installed this exact way!

And what are you going to look for when you drive past the cop shop?

correct me if i'm wrong but didn't you say you install the UHF aerials under the sun visor? well then they would be pretty close to your head then wouldn't they,????
and as i drive past the cop show i'll keep an eye out for COP CARS which don't have aerials on the back window which means they must be mounted where you claim they are.

LOL..Did I not say that I mount them under the rear sun viser?

And when you see these cars at the cop shop, how are you going to know they are cop cars? They dont have stickers on them that say "This is a police car"

ahhhhh sorry cool1 i think i need some more reading lessons but i am getting better thought you were meaning the front one, and at the cop shop there is no parking out the front except for cop cars so you look at the cars parked there which are unmarked and obviously they then must be a cop car as what idiot would park his car in a no parking spot in front of a police station?
