I use two - one to the chassis of the car and the other to the engine block.

Freak you should have at the least an earth strap from the battery to the chassis to the engine/gearbox.
bolt it to your gearbox somewhere on a nice big bolt/nut.
it doesnt need to go onto your starter, just as long as it's on the engine/gearbox.

The more earth straps the better. I choose to use 3 straps. 1 to the engine, 1 to the front chassis rail and 1 to the rear chassis rail. Having a voltage potential between 2 earth point can and will cause rust and corrosion.

Resulting in a bad Earth??? Laughing

Sorry Cool1 can you clarify that last statement? Does 3 points solve the corrosion problem or reduce the risk??

i dont think there is any evidence to say that is true...

i've heard the theory though...

basically the more earths the better because current actually flows from negative to positive so if you have a small earth lead or a bad earthing point the current will encounter resistance and give you problems...

you can buy very good earth straps from supercheap for like 50 bucks... it even comes with o-ring terminals
