W-58 pictures Fri, 12 March 2004 00:12 Go to next message
Did a search but couldn't find any. I was thinking about buying a W-55/7/8 from u-pull it to drop into my celica as W-50 is getting a bit old.

Does anyone have any pics of the W-58 as all the boxes have been taken out of the cars already ( I know an RA60 down there had a W-58) and theres a couple of toyota boxes sitting next to the RA60 celica and I don't know whats what!

Any other way I can tell?

Any help would be great,
Lachie.

ra60s didn't come with the w58 standard, so unless it was swapped in it is most likely a w55 gbox

Most RA60's I have seen in Perth run a W57 box. The SA63 had a W55 and I understand that the Corona Avante has a W58 box, along with the might Supra. Smile
You may need, as I have done, to swap the selector fork and top cover plate between W57/W58 boxes so that your gearstick can come up through the original hole in the tranny tunnel, and also (as in the case of my originally auto RA23), modify the g/box crossmember by welding on some extension plates and redrilling the holes to meet the exist captive nuts in the chassis, as the W57 g/box I am using 'moves' this crossmember back the amount of the mounting hole spacing.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Yeah, I think that it may have been a W-57, just going on memory and I haven't been there for a while. Thanks for your help guys. Should be able to work out what I'm buying now.

It seems kind of ironic that just about as soon as the sticky on W58 g/boxes dropped of the top of this particular forum section, this questions pops up !
That sticky had photo's as well.....I might just have to "SEARCH" for it !
Cool
Cheers,
Mitch.
