13 sec sprinter. Fri, 12 March 2004 01:22 Go to next message
i am about to purchase a sprinter. i had a mr2 and miss the grate little 4age. but my latest car has shown me the light with boost and a 13sec time slip. now i want a sprinter with a 4agze which i will transplant myself. will i get 13sec from the supercharger with a pulley, front mount and a computer or will i need to turbo. i know turbo is better for top end but the SC will be a cheaper option and better on the street but will it be fast enough.
cheers mike

can buy a pulley kit that is pretty much guaranteed to provide 200hp when fitted to the GZE. This is enough power to propel the Sprinter to 13 sec ¼ miles and 0-100 in 6 seconds

seems a bit optimistic 1/4 time.
anyone??

Id be guessing a pulley'd gze sprinter would be a low 14
I could be wrong, I'm sure some people out there can actually talk from experince.

thanks guys i just don't want to go to the expense of a conversion and be disappointed. as i can save allot going turbo the first time if that is whats needed. i know i want a ae86 i just don't want it to be slower than my current car. Evan with a 4age it will be more fun but i need fast and fun Razz any body in the 13's with a full street trim gze.

mate of mine on friday night here in NZ ran 13.7
@157kmh ..with 4agze running stock pully ..only mods are he made himself a new intake plenum and using bluetop throttle body and using headers and front mount cooler + some 185/60 hoosiers ... took off like a rocket. Oh ..this is bluetop with a supercharger but close enough .. still running 4agze ecu .. cant keep up with the turbo bluetops tho ..but its plenty close.

if you run a good strong driveline with a lsd in the rear you could make a 13. I'd say a low 14 with pulley, computer and front mount.

ditching the s/c and running a turbo would be by far the better option, as the inlet tract that the air passes thru on a gze isnt exactly ideal, rather poor actually. do it right and go turbo.

Something that might worth consider is...once u reach 13...will u go for 12 and so on....if in that case go for the option that give u more potential Smile

You could just buy another mr2 with the gze already in it Very Happy .....

Bugman..Guaranteed to give you 200hp? thats pretty much the limit of the gze, and they guanrantee it Razz

But big Mike definately go the turbo, (im still lookin for a manifold Sad )buy the gze motor and get the turbo on it b4 u put it in the car there is way more power potential from the turbo than the sc(like i said b4 200hp is pretty much the limit, turbo is wayyyyyy higher), and with todays bb turbos you can almost get as much torque anyway. HAVE FUN!

thanks to every one. i think i will get a gze block and start up a turbo build. is there a big advantage in getting a custom manifold made up or the rwd toyota item or a cut-n-shut 100kw. there is a heap of info on the toyota items on this site but what gains are to be made from a custom unit.
cheers
mike

install the 4agze stock first but make a new bracket and run (depending on what motor you get) a proper intake manifold these generate more power than the 4agze crap setup and can use the n/a 4age throttle body which is like 2x bigger than the 4agze. My friends 4agze makes 122kw@wheels with stock pulley
