Hey man i just saw in your sig, that your motor is bored to 2.2L Shocked , how did you do that and howmuch money?, and what motor is it?, gen1 3sge?.

As for computers you can get Motec, autronic etc but the computers alone cost $2000, your better off getting a BEAMS 3sge or a 3sgte Smile.

You can not put a piggy back ecu on ST162s...

As mentioned above, grab an autronic/motec or something along those lines.

Note : Beams 3S-GEs cost $6000 at least, whereas you can probably get a decent ecu installed for $2000 (try Autronic).

by the time u finish installing an autronic u will be up for about 3000 to 3500

u need modules and reluctor interfaces for an autronic when fitted to a toyota

basically tell me how much u want to spend and ill tell u what u can get with that money

plus need to know is the engine runnin at the moment
do u just need the ecu wired up or the rest of the engine/body loom aswell

Autronic may be a bit more expensive than I stated Smile

sideshow -> would the 3000-3500 include tuning or just wiring the thing?

Also - you'll notice his sig says 'TVIS' so that would be a fairly good indicator that it is a gen 1 3S-GE.

You would need to bore out approximately 4mm (to make the car 90mm bore) to get a shade under 2.2litre capacity. There is a fair bit o' room in the 3S-GE block, so it could be possible - I think. I would imagine it's just a case of buying some over-sized pistons/piston rings and getting the block bored.

its hard to quote

2200 is price for latest autronic i think
150 for reluctor interface
250 for module bosch 008 new
400 to 700 for a neat job
depends on condition of wiring eg. is car already runnin
or does the rest of the engine harness needs wirin to power up alternbator dash oil temp etc
150 maybe to get dizzy modified to suit (grind teeth of the pickups)

then u have to pay someone to tune it

the new autronic suppose to be able to suit toyota dizzys or cas
but i havnt heard if its out yet

autronic aint as straight forward as others just to let u know
but its a bloody good ecu

Yeah its bored... just under 2.2l... bored out bout 3mm

I was hopin for a piggy back system... but thats a no go yeah...

I was looking at the beams 3sge... sounds fantastic... but i tried to find a place for the engine... a guy quoted me 4300 plus 6spd box but there is a waiting list on the engine

can the head/inlet/exhaust manifold bolt onto the block??

smt_007, i blew the engine around two years back and i was going to plug in a mr2 3sge (same as 2nd gen) but when i found out bout TVIS, i loved the concept and decided to rebuild.. did rebuilding myself... just got machine shop to bored out. But as i find out, TVIS isnt that crash hot... thats wr the BEAMS comes in Smile

I think the gen2 3S-GE can be piggy-backed, but not the gen 1 - don't quote me on this though.

You can get a unichip for the 3sge, but theres not much performance increase on a stock motor, there will be some increase but it would be better if you atleast got some performance cams.

Man you can't go past an EMS for $995. And you don't need anymore parts to make it work. Its compatable with your dizzy, igniter etc. Real easy to install and tune too.

None of the piggy back chips will change the injector timing...afaik, only the ignition timing.

I don't know if it's possible to remap the ECU with the 1st gen 3S-GE...subsequent ones might be easier though. If there's one part of the St162 I'd gladly call a 'turd' (compared to the rest of the car) it would be the factory ECU.

Remapped ecu's suck anyway. As soon as you mod your car a bit more or change something you need to get it remapped again. The EMS i was talking about is a full replacement ECU. You just use a laptop to retune it whenever necessary. For the price i say you can't go by one!
