Sounds like your ignition might be breaking down. Have you checked your plugs lately?

have you got a non stock filter on the car like a pod filter, id be thinking its a turbo flutter noise, its not bad for your car, well i don't think it is, its just back pressure coming out of the turbo going out of the intake...
if you want to get rid of it, put the stock air box back on, or put a BOV on...

Hello MR.2,
this fluttering you refer to is very common on cars with high flowed turbos. Sounding like a fluttering/choofing noise, its called reversion and occurs when the turbo compressor is trying to force more air into the engine than it can ingest. If you do a search on the net there is heaps of literature on this very problem.
My car suffered the same problem when the turbo was high flowed. You get the fluttering noise from a particular point in the rpm range, the boost flicks up and down dramatically while its fluttering and the power surges up and down also (not good for turbo or engine).
From lots of reading I found that the problem was the compressor trying to force more volume into the engine than it could take, the answer appeared to be to increase the exhaust flow. So I ported the wastegate (internal wastegate) and opened up the inlet on the exhaust housing. After that it flowed better, no more fluttering/reversion and gained a few more kw.
I am no expert, this is just my first hand experience, but I do suggest doing a search on the net for "turbo reversion" and read some of the more reputable sites for answers to solving your problem.
Cheers.
PS. I noticed the post above, mine was worse with the stock air box and filter than with the unifilter pod on it now, don't know why??(pre porting turbo I tried this, now its always using the pod filter).

natez have a bov on! air filter is a pod though
ke382TG
your a champion that would make pefect sense!!!
would u say that if i chnaged the internal gate to an external that would fix the issues ??? because that was next on the list to try actully!

No worries MR.2.
JDM Hachi has given you the term I couldn't think of, 'compressor surge' thats a better and more accurate term than the only one I could think of at the time (reversion) but the same problem is called both things.
When I was getting compressor surge it was recommended to me that an external gate would have solved the problem (just porting my internal gate was enough, so an external gate would have fixed my problem for sure). I would have loved to fit an external gate, but $$$$ were not there.
Hope you get it sorted MR.2 because compressor surge robs you power (or at least indicates there is more waiting to be unleashed with improved flow!!), get it sorted and you will be very happy.
Cheers.
