the other night i went out with 4 mates for one of their b'days, {me, wife, 2 mates and their girls}, first we went to some fancy shit belgian place {exxy poofy beer}
1: when we went to order, i saw the prices and shat myself, $29 for a steak , i ordered a "bangers and mash" with some weird belgian sausage {$18}, and Rod ordered the veal, he leaned to the waitress and asked whether it was "sizeable" meal cause he was hungry. she said "um, its a main", Rod said "ok" with a bit of apprehesion.
2: we got the meals and she spilled some of the sauce on the table, just missing Rods mobile, Oakleys and wallet {she didnt notice}, it saw the smallest bit of meat i have ever seen, Rod just stared at it, then at the waitress, then at the meal, she looked at him and walked off
3: My other mate duran got some chips with his meal, when the waitress went to take the remainder of the chips {duran was full}, rod asked her to leave them there, she put them down and nearly knocked over his glass of $12 beer, luckily he made a move for it and stopped it.
4: we then went to a little cafe at Garden City, we ordered a spritz 4 coffees and a pot of tea, the spritz took 2 mins and the coffee took 30 mins, only because my mate and i went up and whinged, my mate was laying into them "this aint good enough, we've been waiting 30 minutes for 4 coffees {he didnt mention the tea}"
5: we got the coffee 1 min later, another 20 mins passed and the tea wasnt there, then the girls went up and thats where it got interesting, they started yelling at the 10 year old behind the counter and shit, obviously someone behind the counter heard them and quickly made it and brought it out while the girls were still up there yelling, the boyfriend of the chick who waned the tea, just looked up at him and in the most patronising voice possible "nah, she doesnt want it anymore, been waiting too long".
in the end they gave us 10% off
not a good night

That's sucky.... And I was going to make a Melbourne is better than Brisbane comment, till I realised a good night and a bad night going to somewhere like that is Luck.
You didnt know the place, but often thats the fun, and you find a great new place.
The service was crud, but everyone is human (to a degree!)
Hope your next night out is a better one, and, really, it only takes 10 minutes to clear a backlog of Coffee orders, so start screaming at 11!

hey Phil, was it that Belgain beer garden place in the city?
i was there on friday - waited nearly 10 min to get 2 beers from the outdoor bar. $5 for overpriced, watery shite - my 1st batch of coopers home-brew looked and tasted better...
next time i'll find a bar where the noise level's below the permanent industrial deafness level and they know how to pull a pint of guiness.

Ahhh, the Hospitality Industry, thank Christ I no longer work in those environments! What can I say - "you pay peanuts, you get monkeys", and the educated/formal training that the great majority lack is depressing - and thats just the managers and owners, let alone the front of house staff!!!
While I will still heartily stand by my claim that the customer is not always right, they do carry the wallet for the night, and if I was to place myself as the manager in the same position, I'd want every last penny out of it and then some more! Sounds like that place didn't, find somewhere that does!

fark ... that makes a box of chatau-du-cardboardue worth around $140!
i got sick of the loud, suited yuppies out the back and bolted .. plus i could see my taxi fare was being pissed way too rapidly...
so you'll be looking for other eating venues? me, i think i'll go back to sushi bars & trains...

why spend $8 on a drink and $40 on a meal at some boring expensive resturant when you can go to the supermarket and get a 2litre bottle of coke for $2 and fish and chip for $6 and go to the park with nice fresh air and eat it there
