it came off a 1990 r32 gtst, im still not 100% sure its ball bearing, even if it was normal bearing would it still need the restricter, and will it actaully DAMAGE it without it? or just smoke?>

If it's the ball bearing one, you do need the restrictor, which is just a small hole in the banjo bolt itself, not in the pipe anywhere. If it's a Cefiro turbo, not Skyline, then my understand is that you won't need the restrictor, but please ask a Nissan nut to make sure!

-hit the skylines forums, post pics and ask
-see a reputable wrecker who can ID it
-see a reputable turbo specialist

A ball bearing turbo without a restrictor will result in oil loss, lots of smoke out the exhaust and lot's of oil in your intake pipework, intercooler, throtrtle body, plenum etc
I run a 0.8mm restrictor in my garret GT cores.

-have searched everywhere
-no respectible turbo specialist anywhere near my area unfortunatly.

If I put it on the engine with no oil restrictor at all will it kill the turbo? cause I spose this is how I could test, because if I put a restrictor on a turbo that had a standard core it would die pretty quickly yeah?

3tgteu's oil pressure gets upto 120psi on cold start eeek,

Doubt it would kill it if it's a ball bearing core, but will affect spool up with the extra unecessary resistance.

I DO know from experience that running without the restrictor will make for a pretty smokey ride if nothing else... I've got one of these turbos lying round, I'll try and include measuring the restrictor in my day's activities Evil or Very Mad

but did it still work properly afterwoods? maybe ill go for a 3mm restrictor or something and if it doesnt smoke then it must be standard bearing.
