SV21 Electrical Fault, Help Please Mon, 15 March 2004 22:53 Go to next message
i took my camry to the mechanic the other day, and after a long and arduous ordeal, i got him to fix my suspension the way i wanted it. unfortunately now, my brake lights dont work, nor do my front or rear park lights or interior dash lights. i have checked fusebox under bonnet and they all seem to be working. the globes are also ok. ANY IDEAS???????

this is advice to everyone, grab yourself the workshop manual for you car!!!!

theres also another light relay thingy in the boot on the drivers side... or maybe that was for the "light" light in the dash....

really you want to look around where they've done work (where susp top thingy comes through into the space between the boot space and the outside of the car) and look for broken things Razz

went through it with a fine toothed comb and found that one of the light bulbs for the brake lights had shorted itself onto the base, possibly due to the previous owner being an idiot and forcing the globe where it shouldnt have been. a trip to the wreckers and to auto pro resulted in a second hand rear right hand light relay and all new fuses and globes. the problem seems to be fixed, although whether or not my tail lights are working are another matter Confused

it seems i breathed a sigh of relief too soon, in an attempt to get my tail lights working as well, i went to hook up a probe to see if they were getting any current through them, but before i touched anything, all of my electrics went out again, including dash lights, park lights and brake lights. i checked the fuses and they were all fine, so i replaced them anyway, and the dash lights and park lights came back on but no brakes. Now all i have on the back of my car is one number plate light and my indicators. i need help because this is looking like im going to have to go to an auto electrician and that means lots of $$$$$ Sad

bump, yeah i was thinking that, but i dont understand why it was pretty much working, and then when my car was stationary and i held down the brake pedal, all the lights worked for 10 seconds then went off without breaking fuses
