I have a Ryobi whippersnipper that has a busted clutch... I think the motor works alright its just that the snipper/blade bit will never stop spinning. I am pretty sure it should not turn when the motor is at idle.
I don't know much about it or its history because my gran gave it to me. I was gonna try and sell it somewhere.

Really??? I've got a Ryobi & it spins while idling, i'd always assumed that was how they worked. In fact i do most of my edging on or near idle giving it a bit of extra throttle through the tough bits...
