What are you planning to do with the helmet? They only have a life span of about 5 years from manufacture and you can pick up a decent open face for about $100-120 at motorbike shops and a bit more for full face ones. If you are looking for using it to race than most events call for an special type of helmet (i forget the abbreviation, but can look it up on mine if you want) that are of a race standard due to build quality. Do you really think you can afford to rely on a helmet that someone is going to throw away - basically after five years the foam inside the helmet hardens and is useless for shock absorbtion in a spill and once they have been in a bingle the outside plastic/kevlar/ composite will probably have faults and is useless once again.
JERRY SPRINGER THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Just how much worth do you put on the grey matter between your ears! If the thought of saving a few dollars is more important than protection of your brain than perhaps you would be justified in getting a cheap one.
ps. i know this just sounds like a tirade that we've all heard before and i by no means wish to be insulting (only humorous), but i would hate to see one less toymoder.
