1JZ Soarer/Supra differences Tue, 16 March 2004 13:36 Go to next message
Hi all..

I've got a sick 1JZ (yes, it does happen) in a JZA70.

I can get hold of a Soarer 1JZ, but need to know the differences. I know about the sump arrangement and the hydraulic fan pump, but anything else? Can the Soarer 1J be adapted to mimic the supra 1J exactly regarding fittings, pumps etc? Anyone know about the wiring differences?

Cheers
adi

The Turbo outlet piping goes on a different angle, I would just swap over your wiring harness to the new engine and the air con pump connectors are different, along with said sump.

It would probably be easiest to strip the Soarer engine to a bare long block and bolt on the Supra manifolds, water pump, sump etc. As far as I'm aware there are no differences in the long block.

Cheers guys, i was just worried about missing bolt holes etc.. i would have though that all the sensors etc are the same so hopefully not much to do with the wiring loom.
