Replacement of 7M-GTE Engine Oil Cooler Tue, 16 March 2004 23:40 Go to next message
Attention all 7M-GTE experts and devotees.......

I am in the process of relocating the oil filter to have a normal access. This is the easy part, and I have bits that will fit and do the job. Very Happy

The main issue is that I also have a 'oil stat' from a Turbo Sigma (essentially a sandwich plate between the filter and mounting block that will divert the oil to the cooler once 80 degrees C is reached).

Now some people in the states have removed the factory cooler and blocked the relief valve (the std 7M-GTE system uses the pressure relief valve to control flow to the oil cooler (pissy in size) via shitty small 3/8' (or similar) lines. I want to put on a decent oil cooler in conjunction with the oil stat and at the same time bump up the pressure slightly to aid in teh longevity of the bearings from the LOW factory settings for std oil pressure.

Anyone here done anything similar or can help me ? Ed, GT, Allan ???

Can I do what I want to do ? (block off factory relief cooler port) and what is a good level of oil pressure to run ?

Cheers

Michael B
