MB 190E Engine Conversion

Ok guys, I have a 190E that usually sits in the corner of the garage gathering dust. It was originally bought as a cheap run around car to get me to uni and back every week, but eventually i stopped taking it cos the Soarer was a much better (and FUN!) drive. Its not a bad car, rides ok, and looks nice (bodykit, new paint, AMG wheels) but its as slow as my tricycle i had when i was 3! I've always wanted to swap the enigne but could never decide. Anyone know if either an SR20DET or 3S-GTE would fit? If not does any one have any suggestions? I would prefer something turbo if possible.

I seem to recall an issue of Zoom (I think) that had the NA engine in a MB 4cyl turboed rather than an engine swap. In my opinion that would be easier than a swap and may even be cheaper. I'm certain that MB engines are strong enough to handle forced induction - german over-engineering
No idea what they did to run it though - might have been a Link Plus as I think AVO did the work.
I'll see if I can locate the article.

I imorted the 190E from Hong Kong and had a choice between that one and a cosworth model, but the engine in the cosworth was completely stuffed. Ive looked at trying to get some of the other MB engines, but some are huge $$$$$, which is why i started looking to jap engines.
P.S thanx for the issue number Tim, I'll check that out.
