well the supra my brother owns did not get a blue slip because it was deemed, "too low", so now we have to get new springs Mad Mad Mad Mad x 1million

Now, I have read this thread

But I guess what we need to know is what is a good option regarding springs yet will be legal, low, but protect the shocks and car sufficiently. We already have koni yellows on board, but just have to switch the springs.

I know the trade-offs, my car used to be a grading tool for a while but we gotta drop some height for handling reasons as well as looks. Very Happy

Are kings super lows legal on a MK3? are they stupidly low anyway?

what about whiteline? I have seen some Jamex springs for sale but read some bad reports on them.

What is the legal height anyway?

thanks guys! Smile Rob

Put stock springs/struts back in for the roadworthy, then once passed put your lower springs back in. It's what I did (although being lazy didn't change thruts back for ages.

I'm sure there's lots of stock Supra springs lying around on toymods. I have a set of front ones but there still attached to the Bilstein shocks and I don't want to seperate them (since I have no spring compressor).

The front of the MA70's ride rather high - I'll check my roadworty/regency report tonight, it has the ride height measurements etc. If you raise the front to std height the back might come up enough to pass as well (happened to me!)

good idea lumpy. but it was the FRONT that failed. I can't actually go pick up the report till tomorrow morning, but I will try to get some exact measurements on it.

The "big wheels" solution won't really work either, cause there is no room in the guards

At the end of the day, the strut tower takes a beating from being so low, as does the exhaust, so it needs to be changed, but yeah, would love to get the slip sooner rather than later. So springs gotta come but if I can figure out a way to get just the slip now I will seize it. Smile

thanks again man

I have Kings lows with bilstien shocks.

I am happy with the handling of the car. The front is low enough for me, but I would rather have the rear about an inch lower.

I wouldnt go super lows because I have enough trouble with the front bar and the exhaust hitting already.

What size wheels do you have?

My car looks fairly high with the standard wheels on because of the large gap between the tyre and the arch at the rear. It looks better when I have the mags on it.

I know the front would have failed - hence the idea for some stock supra springs (as I did). It's pretty easy to change the front struts over, it's the back ones that are a P.I.T.A. Smile I only had to change the front ones - and it looked like a bloody 4wd for clearance compared to my lower spring combo!

Surely there must be fellow toymodder in Sydney with some leftover front struts from a jza70/ma70 halfcut? I'd lend you mine (jza70R stock ones) but postage would be a big cost! Smile Although mine are lucky because I passed inspection with them in!!

I have two words for all of you: Adjustable Coilovers Smile

I put mine in and can go from low low low to high high high!

But, if you don't want to fork out for them (admittedly, quite expensive) I have a full set of stock TEMS with Lovell Springs.

Height at the front is enough to get car over the pits, back is a bit lower - i.e. the top of the tyre on 17" rims is JUST EVER SO slightly too high up in the guard.

Whole set would go for $275 + shipping, springs I will let go for $200 + shipping.

But considering I'm in perth ... theres gotta be SOMEONE in sydney that could help him out ? Smile

yeah but adjustable coilovers would mean new shocks which would mean a price tag of like near a grand yeah?

anyway, Pittwater Brake and Clutch will supply and fit two King Lows for under $300 ('cause I am toymods member Very Happy )

which seems pretty alright to me I guess... seems King Lows is the consensus around here anyway for quality, strong yet not stupidly low spring Smile

I have a set of height adjustable coil overs (bilsteins) for the A70 supra that I no longer require - they might need an overhaul, I never got around to using the things. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you a price (under $400).
