Wheel Spacers Thu, 15 August 2002 22:48 Go to next message
Anyone know of anywhere that sells wheel spacer kits??
The ones that bolt on and have their own studs, or kits that have
longer studs with spacers, need at lease 30 mm if i cant sell my wheels Cry

Cheers

Legally you are only allowed 25mm per side. I dont know if this bothers you.

My friend just git spacers made for his car. MK2 spacers, we used machined down cressida wheel nuts, you might be able to use them. His spacers are 23mm each, costs $50 pair but when we asked the guy to make more he said now they are $120 a pair!

We r gonna make our own in the lathe.

It doesnt matter about legality as they will be used for trackwork only and not driven on the road,
With any spacer larger then 5 mm i need longer bolts as when i tried 10 mm spacers there as no thread to bolt anything safely on to Sad

But 23MM would probably be just right,
but if they were anymore then $100 for all 4 i may as well just buy some, cressida wheels..

Persoanlly any spacer can be bad news, as more strain is put on the studs. Machined down wheel nuts is a bad idea as well because there is less thread to hold the wheel on, so higher load on each thread.

Spacers of 30mm sounds very bad. And seeing as it is to be used for track work, i guess there will be even more load than if it were just a road car.

For safety, i'd get the wheels with the correct offset right from the word go, and save yourself the possibility of BIG headaches later on.

Craig.

You need to use the type that bolt to the hub, then the wheel bolts to the spacer. You can pick them up at importers as its the same stud pattern as S13. If you were in SA, you'd just go down to JMS and buy them. Seen them sitting around.
See:

but at $500 for a set of 4, I think a set of rims in an ideal offset will be better.

You can buy longer stud's from any store, the one's I got were 2" longer than standard, so just cut them down to suit. I'm only running a 12mm spacer. Usually denoted by an extra '0' on the end of the stud type number. ie standard stud number was NS340, the longer ones were NS3400.
