toyota celica TA22/LT? Sat, 20 March 2004 03:03 Go to next message
saw a old celica, looked like a ta22 but it was badged LY 2000 5 speed?
is this just like a luxury ta22 model???

I think you'll find it read LT2000 and your eyes need checking. Most RA23 Celica's in Australia are LT2000's (this is the povo version by the way), but there are a few upper-spec ST2000 and GT2000 models kicking around as well.

not my eyes mate my keyboard skills
note the y is next to the t

so its an RA23?
whats the differeence between this and the TA22
are they simliar or do my eyes actually need checking?

From the firewall back they are nearly identical, but the front end is fairly different. The RA23 has a longer front and more "square" styling.

Actually it's the strangest thing... I did a Google image search for "RA23" and that's one of the pics that came up. It's my car but I've never seen it before with the 01 and I have no idea how it got there! Freaky...

Depends on your definition of "better". Some prefer the looks of the TA22, but the RA23 is newer, has better suspension and brakes, a bigger engine, and much more room in the engine bay for upgrades.

RA23's are pretty easy to find, although you do need to be careful as there are lots of dodgy ones out there. Rust is your enemy.
