mods to a sprinter... Sun, 21 March 2004 08:13 Go to next message
Hoping someone can help. I have a friend that's into sprinters a lot more than i am (only cause he owns one and i dont... yet...
Anyhoo, he scared me quite a bit telling me about the conversaionprobs and work to put a black top 20v into a sprinter... sounded like too much trouble.. an some one tell me, in a little more detail (maybe even aprox. costs) what it would be to do that work? also... in another forum... some1 suggested a guy get hold of an aussie spec and modify it... that smarter? easier?

i just want to know what i'd be getting myself into...

that'd be great.

Thanks

Ian

dude, seriously...theres so much info on this topic just do a search and you'll have all your answers

it's all a question of $$$ and how much you want to spend...if you've got 10k plus import one...if you have less modify an aus spec and end up paying the same amount anyway(long term)...the 4a series motor is fairly easy to put in without major hassles

In brief, directly on the engine: intake, exhaust, wiring, fuel pump, alternator, air con, ignition, fan, water lines...
Indirectly (to balance the car as a whole with a Aus spec as example): brake, final gear, suspension...
It all depends on what level a car u want it to be...keep searching for information b4 u make a move. It is worth it at the end... Smile

maybe a red top or a blue top is an easier and cleaner conversion?

Everything is bolt on, seriously.

with the spare money, (and you'll save quite a bit), maybe work on the motor..

Dude please check the links before you ask any more questions, i realise you may not know much yet, but read and learn, we had too, it may seem daunting too you at the moment but if you take the time to read and understand what has been written it'll all make sense.

While the 20v motor can be put into the sprinter, for a beginner it would be hard without the $$$$, The bluetop)is by far the easiest to do.

You could also see http://www.billzilla.org/ for info.
