Where exactly is the bulk of the weight in the GT4's?
May sound stupid to people hwo actually can afford one and have one etc etc....
But just curious where all the weight is making them so heavy? Anything can be changed or stripped out of them to make them more competitive against a few of the other more nimble 4wd?

If you want to lighten it you are going to have to remove all the interior... the interior isn't the source of the weight (the 4WD drivetrain is) but its about the only thing you can remove...

you could also take out things like your aircon condensor and compressor...

From what i've read up on the GT4, its the driveline. You don't get a bullet proof Toyota Driveline without having the weight to match.

You can do the normal things like strip the interioir and rip out the seats and put lighter ones in. But thats about it. You can also replace parts from the GroupA model (im thinking the front bumper support) apparently saves abotu 13kg's there.

Repalcing the panels with lighter panels would be the next step. But then say goodbye to your cash.

You buy a GT4, you buy a fatboy, but a god damn nice looking fatboy.

Yea thanks, I was just curious about it all, I guess if it was easy everyone would do it.
Hm must be a hardcore drivetrain, it outweighs a GTR doesnt it?

yup - almost - and i do say ( ALMOST ) unbreakable drivetrain is under those cars ..

they are heavy in some respects but as lance said You don't get a bullet proof Toyota Driveline without having the weight to match.

weight can be saved in the exhaust - its fooking heavy - the front and rear bumpers and bumper mounts ( pressed steel VS aluminium

Bonnets on a standard one weigh a shitload .. My group A one VS stock is like lifting a brick compared to a pebble ..

Still - they are not the lightest car around - by any means - but that didnt stop them winning rally championships multiple times.
