hey all,

i know this has prolly been covered before. A mate of mine has just bought a 5sp out of a 86 supra, wondering what type it is, there is a number on it and it says RT154 Rolling Eyes

is that a R154? or whats the go? wanna know if i could use it behind my 7mgte?!

There is generally nothing to identify the box on the box. I suggest you weigh the box. If it is around 45kg, then it's an R154. If it is about 35 kg, then it's a W5x style box.

If possible, find out what engine the original Supra had. If it had a 7M-GTE, it will be an R154; otherwise it's a W58.

interesting, hope the scales arent gonna be outa wack then Razz

is that the weight with the bell housing attached ?

yeh i doubt i could find out what it came from norbie, my mate bought it off a guy in melb who bought it from an importer, so yeh, wouldnt have a clue what its off.


does it need to be weighted dry yeh?

thanks Cruzsida Very Happy thats the page i was after.

well, i reckon its a W58 box then Crying or Very Sad

but i can still use it behind my 7mgte right?
the guy also told him (my mate) it came of a 82 model supra Rolling Eyes if thats any help....

if i can use it, is it a straight swap in ? or will i need a new tail shaft with yuck to suit the w series box? and where the hell would i find one to suit it?!?!

EDIT:

also it weighted in at 40kgs (dry weight) with bell housing..
