I have been told that the 5MGE is "5MGE is a pig, and has problems with cams, cam belts, heads,
oil pumps and lifters.
Any comments or experience with this engine??

Bollocks. A properly maintained 5M-GE won't give you any troubles. I've had a 5M-E, a 5M-GE and a 6M-GE and they've all been great (except the 5M-E had no power).

Considering the belt setup is basicly the same on all of the GE m's and i have NEVER heard of this problem nor any of the others i highly dought it!
not to mention the ALL of the M series engines to my knowlage have never had a lifter due to being overhead cam i think someone has the 5M-GE mixed up with a 202! (Duhh its got 6 round thingies that go up and down like this one! thay have to be the same)

Thanx for that ifo guys, the info came from an importer, when I was chasing up a transplant donor for the car.
